Device Monitoring
Remote device monitoring, or remote heart monitoring, is a method by which information from a patient’s implantable device (pacemaker or defibrillator) is communicated directly to Baron Cardiology Group’s (BCG’s) office via an electronic transmitter. This allows the BCG team to review the patient’s heart activity and device performance without the patient needing to be physically present. Remote monitoring is a critical component of the patient’s healthcare, as it ensures his/her device is functioning properly and that their heart rhythm is being properly controlled. BCG’s Device Monitoring program is managed by Rachel West, RN, BSN, a registered nurse with over 20 years of nursing experience.

Blood Pressure Monitoring
Remote blood pressure monitoring is at the forefront of BCG’s Hypertension Clinic. Using a QardioArmTM blood pressure cuff, patients are able to send their daily blood pressure readings real-time to BCG’s Hypertension Clinic nurse via an app on their smart phone. Upon receipt of the readings, the hypertension nurse discusses worrisome changes with Dr. Baron or one of the BCG nurse practitioners. The hypertension nurse then calls the patient to explain any treatment changes recommended by the provider. BCG’s remote blood pressure monitoring program is managed by Sarah Rowe, RN, BSN, whose practice is devoted exclusively to patients with hypertension.
