Baron Cardiology Group now offers Hypertension Clinic services to patients with high blood pressure. At the forefront of this clinic is a remote monitoring program that allows the BCG team to receive and respond to daily blood pressure readings submitted to our office via a patient’s smart phone. The program is managed by Sarah Rowe, RN, BSN, a BCG nurse dedicated to the monitoring of hypertension patients.

How It Works

01 – Upon referral to the program, patients are scheduled for an initial visit with Dr. Baron. During the visit, they are given a free QardioArmTM blood pressure cuff, and enrolled in the online monitoring program. Patients can be referred to the program by their primary care physician, or they can self-refer.

02 – Using the QardioArmTM cuff, patients send daily blood pressure readings to the BCG online portal via an app loaded on their smart phones.

03 – The hypertension nurse reviews the daily readings and discusses any worrisome changes with Dr. Baron or one of the BCG nurse practitioners.

04 – The hypertension nurse calls patients and explains any treatment changes recommended by the BCG provider.

What’s Required

A smart phone with Bluetooth 4.0 wireless technology is required. Any cell phone with Apple IOS 10 or Lollipop OS or later meets this requirement. This includes iPhone version 5 or later, Samsung Galaxy Note 2 or later, and many other smart phone brands.

How Much Does It Cost?

There is no charge to enroll in the remote blood pressure monitoring program, and the QardioArmTM blood pressure cuff is free. There is a monthly monitoring charge, which is covered by Medicare and many commercial insurance plans.
